This certificate is given each term to one or two pupils that have made significant progress in their learning, showing more improvement and achieving better results than previously.
Each term the Key Stage 2 teachers each nominate a pupil in their class to get the Effort Cup. These nominations are read by the Headteacher who then decides one winner and three runners-up.
Each term all members of the school community have the opportunity to nominate a winner of the Jack Petchey Award. This is for outstanding achievement in an academic, sporting or pastoral area for pupils aged 11 and above. The nominations are collected by the School Council and the members collectively decide the winner.
The Simon Rosenberg Award is in memory of our Headteacher who sadly died in July 2017. This annual award has been funded by Simon’s family and celebrates his vision in practice.
The award is presented to a pupil who has demonstrated outstanding confidence, independence and motivation and has an additional “Wow!” factor. All members of the school community nominate their chosen pupil and a committee makes the final decision.
The winner receives a shield to keep and a copy of Mr Gum a favourite book of Simon’s. An award board displays the names of the annual winners outside the Headteachers’s office.
