Progress and Achievement

At John Chilton School we measure pupil outcomes in these ways:

  • The progress of pupils over time, between Key Stages 1-2 and 2-4. Work here is moderated on a termly basis with colleagues from other special schools

  • The progress of all pupils in subjects over the year. Ambitious targets are set for each individual in maths and English which is tracked and evaluated every half term and interventions implemented where necessary

  • The progress of all pupils in Education, Health and Care Plan targets. Personalised targets are set annually for pupils in Cognition and Learning; Communication and Interaction; Social, Emotional and Mental Health and Sensory, Motor and Physical. These are measured monitored half termly.

It is evident that pupil progress and achievement is outstanding, both yearly and over time. The Governors and Senior Leaders rigorously scrutinise target setting, progress and achievement and seek external verification to ensure that the school system is challenging and effective.
